I’m so in love with this Minnie Mouse inspired ensemble!
If you know me well, you know that I am in LOVE with polka dots. Polka dots remind me of 2 of my favorite things – Minnie Mouse and I Love Lucy. I am drawn to red with white polka dots, black with white polka dots, and navy with white polka dots. Oh, and I usually only like polka dot designs when they are perfectly spaced apart. I know, it’s one of my weird quirks… Haha!
A friend tagged me in a Facebook shop boutique last week. My jaw dropped when I saw it. I’ve always loved the look of double hooded sweaters, but I don’t own any since I don’t get to wear hoodies often. I had to make an exception for this beauty.
Disney Mouse Ears – $4.99 (YES, you read that right!) from Ulous on Etsy
I originally got a cute Minnie Mouse bow headband that were from Tokyo Disney. The only place I could find them was on eBay. Unfortunately they are uncomfortable on my big head. I was so happy when I found my new ears on Etsy. I also got black pair with white polka dots.
Yes, a “baby bag!” I have 2 other “Be Quicks” by Ju-Ju-Be. They are roomier than they look and they are machine washable. The included strap can make the bag a handbag or a wristlet. It doesn’t come with a crossbody strap, but I added one to it and love it even more. I hope by the time Sean and I have kids, Disney & Ju-Ju-Be will have an official collaboration!
New Balance Minnie Mouse Shoes – $99.95 from Shop Disney or Zappos
I loved the New Balance x Disney collaboration from the get go! These shoes are so comfortable. I picked this design out of the collection because I loved that this pair is all black and minimalistic.
If you find any cute Minnie Mouse inspired looks, please send them my way! 🙂
I’ve been wanting to blog more often, but I was having a hard time coming up with ideas. I’d sit in front of my computer for upwards of an hour staring at a blank page. I scanned through countless pins on Pinterest for ideas, but none of them gave me a spark.
I decided to take a trip down memory lane and browse through one of my old Tumblr accounts. Sometimes taking a peek at the past is a great way to spark inspiration. One of the hashtags I used on my old Tumblr account was “What Makes Me Happy.”
I wrote 47 of them between 2013 – 2014.
To be honest, I’ve been feeling stressed and down lately. I don’t think it’s an actual phenomenon – but I think I can feel my hair turning white! I’ve found white hairs every once in a while, but I’ve found so many this past year. Coming across these things I wrote a few years ago was such a blessing. My soul needed these reminders.
So here’s to the start of a new series on my blog: Think Of The Happiest Things. And instead of writing a separate blog post for each thing that makes me happy, I’ll write them in groups of 10.
Think of the Happiest Things | Part 1
001/ Spending time with Sean. From chillin’ on the couch, dinner dates, walking around, driving around, travel adventures, and everything in between – I love growing old with you. This fall will mark 10 years of being a couple (3 years boyfriend & girlfriend, 7 years husband & wife)!
002/ Disney. Disney movies, Disney style, Disney decor, Disneyland, Disney Cruise, Walt Disney World, Disney’s Aulani, Disney Vacation Club. I can go on and on! =)
003/ Travel. Everyone knows that I love planning vacations. To me it’s almost as fun as being on vacation. I love having something to look forward to. As much as I love living in Alaska, I look forward to traveling out of state… Especially during our long winter months!
004/ Mail. I know I can’t be the only one that gets excited over the monthly Costco sale booklets, haha! I also love receiving Christmas cards. I occasionally sign up for beauty subscription services throughout the year. For example, right now I’m subscribing to Sephora Play. It makes me feel like it’s a “birthday” present every month. I’m a self-proclaimed online shopping addict and I love when my orders arrive.
005/ An iced cold drink on a hot summer’s day. A warm drink on a cold winter’s day. Rain showers after several days of heat. Sunny skies after several days of rain. It’s the little things in life.
006/ Driving around alone with my windows rolled down, sunroof slid back, and music blasting. I love feeling my hair whip through the wind and getting lost in the zone. It’s seriously one of my favorite ways to zen out! Lately Modest Mouse’s “Float On” and Bazzi’s “Mine” are continuously on replay. They’re my happy songs.
007/ When people send me, “This made me think of you” posts. When Downtown Disney opened a Disney Home store, my Facebook and my Instagram blew up with notifications from people tagging me daily. I thought it was funny because some of them would say, “You’ve probably seen this, but just in case you didn’t…” I appreciate the thoughtfulness!
008/ Organization. Okay, I know that this is funny because I’m not always the most organized… but I love looking at organization, if that makes sense?! I am fascinated by beautifully organized homes and office spaces. Haha. I strive to run a home that is just as clean and organized. I recently reorganized my closet, now I just need to reorganize the rest of my ouse. Wish me luck (and a lot of strength and patience, haha).
009/ Side hustle sales. Don’t get me wrong – I love my career. But there’s a small adrenaline rush that happens when I sell something on Poshmark or on Etsy. Does anyone else get that same feeling too? Speaking of Etsy, I’ve actually been on a hiatus the past few months. I closed my shop because my crazy self decided to take 2 college classes in the midst of a big work project. I may reopen it when things slow down a little bit in my life.
010/ Home. My home is my little slice of paradise. It’s so relieving to be able to come home to relax and unwind after a long day at work. Sean and I looked at the floor plan of the house that we’re living in several years ago. We thought it was perfect. We even had the flyer from the open house that we went to framed and hung at our condo. We used it as motivation for us to work hard so we could buy a bigger place someday.
Thank you so much for reading my “Happy List!” Now I’ve got a question for you – what makes YOU happy?!
I’m excited to share my Poshmark experience with you.
I signed up for Poshmark in early January. I was already selling things here and there on eBay, but I wanted to try different venues. I was actually hesitant to give Poshmark a try because of how much commission they take, but I decided to give it a shot because of how successful a few of my friends have been.
Here I am 6 months later with 28 sales and counting!
Poshmark’s focus is on clothing, shoes, and accessories. The platform itself is very “social” – you share items from your closet, you can follow people, and you can share other people’s items from their closet. Sharing is caring in Poshmark! The more active you are on the platform, the more successful you’ll be making sales.
What I Don’t Like About Poshmark
Poshmark’s cut of your sale is 20%. It’s awfully high compared to eBay and Mercari’s 10% cut.
There is only one shipping option. Shipping is 1-3 days with a flat rate of $6.49. I wish they offered several shipping options like Mercari does. As a buyer, I don’t mind waiting a few extra days for an item to arrive if it meant saving a few dollars to get it via First Class Mail. I hate the idea of paying that much for shipping for something I buy that’s only $10.
What I Like About Poshmark
You get your money quicker. The buyer has 3 days to accept your item. If they don’t accept it within 3 days the funds will automatically be released into your redeemable balance. It only takes a business day to receive your funds when you transfer the money from your redeemable balance to your allocated bank account.
Poshmark automatically takes their cut. I hate receiving eBay and Etsy invoices. I really like that Poshmark takes their cut immediately.
You can use your redeemable balance to buy items on Poshmark. Ok, this may be a bad thing because it makes it easier to buy more stuff instead of decluttering… Haha!
I was also selling stuff on eBay and on Mercari when I first joined Poshmark. While I was able to sell several items on both of those platforms, I’ve been doing my best with Poshmark. I don’t really use the other platforms anymore.
My Tips For You
While I am still pretty far from being a selling machine on Poshmark, I’d like to share a few tips that have worked for me so far.
The more items you have in your Closet, the more buyer’s confidence you attain. List as many items as you can!
Don’t burn yourself out. It can be very overwhelming to add listings to your closet when you have a big heaping pile of clothes laying around. List a few items each day instead of trying to do it all at once. I know that for myself I get pretty frustrated/tired after listing 6 or so items at once.
Like I mentioned earlier – Sharing is caring! Engage with your potential buyers and engage with the people that you Follow or Follow you.
Patience is a key. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t sell something quickly.
Share from a computer. It’s so much easier to share listings on a desktop than on a phone or tablet. I am 10x quicker on a desktop.
Be honest and up front. If there’s a stain or a small hole on the item, be sure to disclose it in your description.
Try listing your unwanted items, even if you don’t think it’ll do well. You know the saying – another man’s trash is another man’s treasure? You still get some money back in your wallet even if it only sells for a few dollars.
Are you a seller on Poshmark? What tips can you share with me? One of my goals is to write stronger descriptions for my listings… I honestly hate writing descriptions for listings. I’ve also thought about taking the time to take “better” pictures, but that obviously requires more time and effort.
Please feel free to check out my Closet on Poshmark.
Are you ready to declutter your closet (to make room for new things? Ha!)? Sign up for Poshmark and make some side hustle money! You’ll get $5 using code DISNEYLIN to use for your first purchase and I’ll get $5 too.
I’ve discovered a lot of new favorites lately, so I thought it would be fun to do a blog post dedicated to them.
Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick, $24, Sephora
My favorite colors are Big Spender (a rose color, pictured above) and Bawse (a deep red). This lipstick is so comfortable to wear that sometimes I forget I’m even wearing anything. It isn’t transferproof, but it is long wearing. I put on my lipstick at 6:45 am and I wear it until 5 pm, sometimes even several hours past that. I only have to do a quick touch up after lunch. It also did great in summer Colorado heat.
This is another one of my favorite lip brands. It’s more liquidy than Smashbox Always On, but it dries quickly and it’s also long-lasting and comfortable to wear. It has a yummy smell, almost like vanilla. I really like Trophy Wife, Icon, and Heartbreaker.
Okay, can you tell that I have a big thing for lippies?! ColourPop is one of my favorite makeup brands overall. All of their products are highly pigmented and priced beautifully. The Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks are amazing. My favorite colors are Dopey, The Rabbit, Ambush, and Redman.
I am obsessed with highlighters, especially the ones by ColourPop. One of my favorite colors is Over The Moon (Described on the website as “The cow jumped over the moon to find this sheer opalescent pearl with hot pink and violet glitters”). I feel like a mermaid or a unicorn when I wear it!
Michael Kors Jet Set Travel Large Crossbody, $148, Macy’s
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect crossbody and I finally found it! I don’t really use big purses anymore and I like being hands free. Most of my purses are handbags and shoulder bags. I was looking for a quality purse that wasn’t too big and wasn’t too small. I made it my mission to find one in Colorado earlier this month.
I’m more of a Kate Spade kind of gal and I was bummed that I didn’t find one that I liked at the outlet. I also looked around Coach, but I didn’t find a crossbody there either. I did find the latest Disney collection there though… So that was a win!
I haven’t been really into Michael Kors the past few years, but I felt the urge to pop in their store and look around. When I saw this black crossbody purse I knew it was the one! Since it was at the outlet I was able to snag it for $93 with taxes.
I’ve been using it everyday since I got back from vacation and it’s held up nicely. I love it so much that I also ordered the blush pink color.
I blame my sister, Jennifer, for getting me hooked on this brand! I just got my first one a few days ago, and I’m already obsessed. They come in a variety of colors and I decided to go with all black. I chose this color because black goes with everything and I love how it looks tactical. This backpack is made with all recycled material and has thoughtfully placed pockets. The bag looks small, but it can carry a lot. I really like the handles at the top and the removable “pad” that’s stored inside. I’m sure you’re like, “huh?! Why is there a foam pad in there?” You can take it out of the bag and sit on it. It’s genius. Sounds way more comfortable to sit on a foam pad than on concrete while watching Fantasmic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, haha. I’m so excited for my new travel bag!
I eventually want to get another color, maybe a Mini size. The color Slate (a dark grey) is calling my name!
Shooter (TV series) on USA Network
I love this show. I rarely ever rewatch series (that aren’t sitcoms), but this series is that damn good! The cast is phenomenal. It’s about an ex-Marine sniper (Ryan Philippe) that was framed for trying to kill the president. You may even remember that there was a movie called Shooter starring Mark Wahlburg starring in 2007. I finally watched the movie this month! It was really cool to see the similarities and differences between the movie and the first season of the show. There’s also a novel called “Point of Impact” by Stephen Hunter that the movie and series originated from.
Watch Seasons 1 and 2 now on Netflix. Season 3 just started and the season premiere episode was crazy!
Sean and I went grocery shopping at Costco on Super Bowl Sunday. As I turned around the corner, my eyes met the couch I’ve always dreamed of having! I told Sean it was just like the feeling I got when I first laid eyes on him… My cheesy pickup line worked because he said we could get it! Hahaha. But for real – I knew it was “the one” when I saw it. I’ve always wanted a gray L shaped couch with tufted seats and this met my specifications.
We found one a couch that we liked at a local furniture store, but it was more on the pricier side. We had actually been eyeing it for almost 2 years, but we kept choosing to travel more instead of spending money on new furniture.
I love our Costco find even more and it wasn’t nearly as expensive! As the saying goes, timing is everything.
After Valentine’s Day I also refreshed our mantel. We originally had our Thomas Kinkade canvases at the stairway, but I always felt they should have been a focal point somewhere else. I decided to put our Mickey & Minnie “Alaska Adventures” away for the season and put the Mickey & Minnie “Hawaii” art piece in its place. Then I moved all the 14 x 14 Thomas Kinkade canvases to surround it. I love how it all turned out! My favorite Instagram account, Disney_at_home, even featured it! 🙂
We moved our TV from the corner to against the wall. We eventually want to get a new TV and mount it on the wall and get a new tv stand… Maybe in the upcoming year or so.
When I’m home and not sleeping, most of my time is spent in the living room. I love how welcoming and relaxing it is. I love taking naps on the chaise!
Thanks for reading. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
