Check out all of my listings on Poshmark!

Hi all,

I’m excited to share my Poshmark experience with you.

I signed up for Poshmark in early January. I was already selling things here and there on eBay, but I wanted to try different venues. I was actually hesitant to give Poshmark a try because of how much commission they take, but I decided to give it a shot because of how successful a few of my friends have been.

Here I am 6 months later with 28 sales and counting!

Poshmark’s focus is on clothing, shoes, and accessories. The platform itself is very “social” – you share items from your closet, you can follow people, and you can share other people’s items from their closet. Sharing is caring in Poshmark! The more active you are on the platform, the more successful you’ll be making sales.

What I Don’t Like About Poshmark

  1. Poshmark’s cut of your sale is 20%. It’s awfully high compared to eBay and Mercari’s 10% cut.
  2. There is only one shipping option. Shipping is 1-3 days with a flat rate of $6.49. I wish they offered several shipping options like Mercari does. As a buyer, I don’t mind waiting a few extra days for an item to arrive if it meant saving a few dollars to get it via First Class Mail. I hate the idea of paying that much for shipping for something I buy that’s only $10.

I still get excited when I get a SOLD notification email for Poshmark!

What I Like About Poshmark

  1. You get your money quicker. The buyer has 3 days to accept your item. If they don’t accept it within 3 days the funds will automatically be released into your redeemable balance. It only takes a business day to receive your funds when you transfer the money from your redeemable balance to your allocated bank account.
  2. Poshmark automatically takes their cut. I hate receiving eBay and Etsy invoices. I really like that Poshmark takes their cut immediately.
  3. You can use your redeemable balance to buy items on Poshmark. Ok, this may be a bad thing because it makes it easier to buy more stuff instead of decluttering… Haha!

I was also selling stuff on eBay and on Mercari when I first joined Poshmark. While I was able to sell several items on both of those platforms, I’ve been doing my best with Poshmark. I don’t really use the other platforms anymore.

Look at all these clothes that I still need to list on Poshmark… This isn’t even all of them! And yes, I am bothered that there are different colored hangers here. Hahaha. I’m so grateful that we have a spare bedroom to store our “for sale” items.

My Tips For You

While I am still pretty far from being a selling machine on Poshmark, I’d like to share a few tips that have worked for me so far.

  1. The more items you have in your Closet, the more buyer’s confidence you attain. List as many items as you can!
  2. Don’t burn yourself out. It can be very overwhelming to add listings to your closet when you have a big heaping pile of clothes laying around. List a few items each day instead of trying to do it all at once. I know that for myself I get pretty frustrated/tired after listing 6 or so items at once.
  3. Like I mentioned earlier – Sharing is caringEngage with your potential buyers and engage with the people that you Follow or Follow you.
  4. Patience is a key. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t sell something quickly.
  5. Share from a computer. It’s so much easier to share listings on a desktop than on a phone or tablet. I am 10x quicker on a desktop.
  6. Be honest and up front. If there’s a stain or a small hole on the item, be sure to disclose it in your description.
  7. Try listing your unwanted items, even if you don’t think it’ll do well. You know the saying – another man’s trash is another man’s treasure? You still get some money back in your wallet even if it only sells for a few dollars.

Are you a seller on Poshmark? What tips can you share with me? One of my goals is to write stronger descriptions for my listings… I honestly hate writing descriptions for listings. I’ve also thought about taking the time to take “better” pictures, but that obviously requires more time and effort.

Please feel free to check out my Closet on Poshmark.

Are you ready to declutter your closet (to make room for new things? Ha!)? Sign up for Poshmark and make some side hustle money! You’ll get $5 using code DISNEYLIN to use for your first purchase and I’ll get $5 too.
